2010-01-06 Brabners Chaffe Street ranked fifth most active law firm in the North West

The latest findings released by M&A data provider Corpfin has shown that leading law firm Brabners Chaffe Street advised on 18 deals last year worth an aggregate £72m, making it the 5th most active corporate law team in the North West.

The firm has offices in Liverpool, Preston and Manchester and in the last month alone its 23-strong corporate team in Liverpool has advised on the acquisition of helicopter flight training school Helicentre Liverpool, based at John Lennon Airport, and two key shareholding transfers for SITA UK Limited.

Denise Walker, head of corporate for Brabners Chaffe Street in Liverpool, said: “Despite the continuing challenges presented by the wider economic environment, 2009 proved to be another busy year for our Liverpool corporate team.

“One reason for this is that we have the capability to handle larger deals but our real stomping ground is transactions between £1m and £30m, where there has been a more consistent supply of opportunities from start to finish.

“A lot of the larger law firms aren't resourced to handle smaller opportunities and still view them as ‘un-sexy', but our structure and model is geared to servicing this part of the market. As a result, we've been able to maintain a similar sized team coming out of this year as we had going into it.

“Clients also prefer having direct access to partner-level support and that's something we're committed to continuing to provide.”
